Who is Neo_NAtive Counselling?
Valentina fable
I am a registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), based in Adamstown (Newcastle), NSW. With a passion for holistic healing and a deep commitment to helping others achieve the changes they seek, my dedication to supporting individuals through their healing journey is shaped by both personal experiences and extensive education in mental health and positive behavior change.
I employ an evidence-based, integrative approach to therapy, grounded in humanistic psychology and specifically enhanced through the lens of Resource Therapy (RT). This multifaceted methodology allows me to cater to the unique needs of each client through a variety of therapeutic modalities, such as narrative therapy, creative and expressive arts therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based practices.
Incorporating parts work within the RT framework allows clients to explore their inner experience more deeply. By identifying and interacting with different "parts" of themselves, clients can better understand conflicting emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that may arise in their daily lives. This compassionate exploration fosters self-awareness and facilitates healing, encouraging clients to engage with their personal narratives in meaningful ways.
My primary goal is to equip clients with the necessary tools and strategies to effectively manage uncomfortable emotions, disengage from unhelpful thoughts, and ultimately rediscover a sense of purpose and direction. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals can explore their feelings and find pathways to healing and personal growth. This integrative and compassionate approach is focused on promoting lasting positive change, empowering clients to overcome challenges and lead fulfilling lives.
In my work within the disability sector, I adopt a neuro-affirming, strengths-based approach to empower children, young people, and their families. Emphasis is placed on the importance of embracing individual strengths and unique identities. By minimizing 'masking,' clients are encouraged to cultivate self-acceptance and authentic expression.
By collaborating with families, I provide tailored strategies and skills that recognize and validate the distinct experiences of each individual. This partnership fosters an environment of understanding, acceptance, and belonging, which is essential for personal growth and well-being. My focus on inclusive practices ensures that every child and young person feels valued and supported in their journey, ultimately enhancing their overall quality of life.
